Weekend Institutional Brief

12 September 2026 | Next India Session Setup

AA REGIME: RISK-OFF, BUT FRIDAY ENDED WITH THE FIRST MEANINGFUL GLOBAL RELIEF SIGNAL

FRIDAY closed a difficult week with an important divergence: India remained weak, but U.S. equities rebounded sharply after crude retreated from nearly $110. That does not reverse the broader risk regime, but it changes the setup for the next Indian session.

GLOBAL RISK PULSE

Brent briefly approached $110 before easing toward the mid-$100s.
U.S. equities rebounded close to 1%.
U.S. 10Y yields remain near 5%.
Fed tightening expectations remain elevated.
Global setup: oil has cooled from extremes, but rates remain the bigger unresolved risk.

INDIA MARKET PULSE

Nifty: ~23,398, down on FRIDAY.
Fifth consecutive weekly decline.
FRIDAY showed intraday recovery from the opening panic, suggesting buyers appeared around the 23,250–23,300 area.
This is stabilisation, not yet a confirmed reversal.

INSTITUTIONAL POSITIONING

FII: net sellers.
DII: net buyers.

Pattern remains foreign selling + domestic absorption. But DII buying intensity has cooled materially from last week’s extreme absorption sessions.
Interpretation: current institutional support looks defensive rather than aggressive accumulation.

INR / RBI

USDINR remains under pressure near the upper-95 area.
RBI intervention appears to be slowing depreciation rather than fully reversing it.

95.80–96.00 is an important FX stress zone.

MARKET MICROSTRUCTURE

Key levels:

23,250–23,300: first defence
23,000: deeper structural support
23,450–23,500: first reclaim zone
23,700–23,800: stronger repair zone
24,000: major structural resistance / Call wall

Most important battlefield: 23,300
If Put writers abandon 23,300 and migrate lower, downside risk increases.
If Calls unwind above spot while Puts build at 23,300/23,400, the first credible bottoming structure begins to emerge.

WHAT CHANGED SINCE THE PREVIOUS SESSION

Improved:

Brent backed away from extreme highs.
Wall Street rebounded sharply.
India recovered meaningfully from Friday’s intraday low.

Still unresolved:

U.S. yields remain extremely high.
INR remains weak.
Nifty has logged five consecutive weekly declines.
Oil remains above $100.

ACTIONABLE RESEARCH IDEAS

Oil Relief Elasticity — measure how much India responds to each $1 decline in Brent.
₹96 INR Stress Model — combine USDINR, Brent, India 10Y, Bank Nifty and foreign flows.
23,300 Defence Quality — score Put OI growth, repeated tests, VWAP, breadth, Bank Nifty and INR.
Fed-Hike Shock vs Oil-Relief Model — determine which macro factor dominates index response.
RBI Dual-Intervention Index — track FX intervention and rupee liquidity withdrawal together.
Hostile-Tape Relative Strength Scanner — identify stocks above VWAP with strong participation and positive rotation despite macro stress.

NEXT-SESSION WORKFLOW

Before open: Brent → U.S. 10Y → USDINR → global breadth → GIFT Nifty → FII derivatives → strike-level OI migration.

First hour: PRICE × OI × VWAP × BREADTH × USDINR × BANK NIFTY × LIQUIDITY

Do not trade the opening gap in isolation. The reaction to the gap carries more information.

AA BIAS

RISK-OFF, BUT FIRST RELIEF SIGNAL HAS APPEARED.
Bullish confirmation would require:
Brent lower + INR stabilization + 23,300 holds + Nifty reclaims 23,500 + Call unwinding + breadth improvement.
Bearish continuation would be:
Brent re-accelerates + USDINR >96 + 23,300 breaks with fresh OI.

ONE THING TO WATCH

Does 23,300 survive while INR remains under stress?
That is the highest-value signal for the next India session.
