India’s recovery strengthened. Overnight global markets introduced a fresh test.

Thursday’s Nifty 50 advanced 1.05% to 22,936.75, while Bank Nifty gained 1.18% to 54,909.65. Sensex rose approximately 905 points to 74,151.04. Fifteen of sixteen major sectors advanced; midcaps and smallcaps gained around 1%. Banking participated, addressing a previous confirmation gap.

However, US technology shares declined sharply overnight amid scrutiny of AI infrastructure spending. Nasdaq fell 1.38%, S&P 500 declined 0.30%. Brent remained above $115 during early Asian trading.

01

Market Breadth Improved

NSE main-board advances were approximately 1,529 versus declines of approximately 1,041.

02

Foreign Selling Returned

FII/FPI cash was −₹943.60 crore versus DII buying of +₹1,924.41 crore. Foreign index-futures exposure remained substantially net short.

03

Overnight Technology Risk

Weak US and Asian technology sentiment could challenge India’s domestic recovery.

AA Executive Assessment NEUTRAL WITH IMPROVING DOMESTIC STRUCTURE. The immediate test is whether Nifty defends 22,900 and establishes acceptance above 23,000.

02 / AA Crude Oil Intelligence

Regime: Elevated Supply-Shock Risk

A dated early-Asian report placed Brent around $115.44/bbl and WTI around $102.79. Traders continued to weigh Iran-related diplomacy against regional energy-disruption risks.

Elevated crude can pressure India’s import bill, currency, inflation and margins, with differing impacts across energy producers and consumers.

The rupee reportedly closed near ₹95.26/USD Thursday. India’s 10-year government yield eased toward 7.35%.

AA Crude Verdict Crude remains a macro constraint. Sustained moderation would support domestic equities; renewed disruptions would worsen the risk scenario.

Stock futures: The same secondary compilation reported foreign-held long stock futures of approximately 3.58 million contracts versus 2.66 million short, approximately 920,000 net long. Aggregate positions do not identify favoured individual stocks.

Two-session limitation: The 28–29 October contract-level NSE F&O bhavcopy pair was not accessible for fresh proprietary processing. The historical 13 October AA study is not current evidence. No current stock-specific long buildup, short covering, short buildup or long unwinding is claimed. Price/OI labels are heuristics, not measured institutional flows or probabilities.

AA institutional verdict: MIXED. Domestic cash support contrasts with foreign selling and defensive index-futures positioning.

10 / Key Market Catalysts

Global Technology Earnings US technology shares fell as investors questioned AI infrastructure spending and expected returns; additional earnings may affect Indian IT sentiment.
US Inflation Personal consumption expenditures data could influence yields, dollar and global equity valuations after the Fed held rates unchanged.
India Growth Finance ministry estimated FY2027 growth at approximately 7.3%, while flagging energy, inflation and geopolitical risks.
Corporate Earnings TRENT reported higher revenue and profit. Coal India reported approximately 53% profit growth but missed analyst expectations as costs rose. Earnings growth relative to expectations matters.
Energy and Currency Brent above $115 and USD/INR around 95.26 remain significant macro references.
AA Research Desk · One Signal to Watch

Can improving Indian breadth and banking withstand the global tech selloff and persistent crude risk?

Sustained acceptance above 23,000 would strengthen the bullish case; failure to defend 22,800 would increase failed-recovery risk.

NEUTRAL — DOMESTIC RECOVERY IMPROVING, GLOBAL CONFIRMATION WEAKENING.

Thursday’s rally was broader and stronger than expected. Nifty gained over 1%, banks participated, VIX fell and breadth improved. But foreign selling returned, index futures remained defensive, crude stayed elevated and US technology shares fell overnight.
