NEXT-SESSION BIAS: Cautious.
Friday's repair is intact, but weekend Saudi/Houthi escalation makes oil and INR the first confirmation test on Monday.
GLOBAL RISK
Friday ended with Brent near $104–105 and U.S. equities recovering modestly. However, Saudi and other Gulf equities weakened Sunday after Houthis claimed missile/drone attacks on targets in Riyadh. This reintroduces an energy-risk premium before Monday.
INDIA PULSE
Nifty closed Friday at 23,346.40 (+0.33%) but completed a sixth consecutive losing week, its longest such streak since 2020. Friday's gain looked more like repair/bargain buying than a confirmed regime reversal.
FLOWS / FX
Foreign positioning remains the weak link despite domestic absorption. USDINR closed Friday at 95.8750; market participants continue to view 96/$ as a key RBI-defended stress threshold. The NSE IPO is also absorbing liquidity while bringing institutional inflows.
MICROSTRUCTURE
Monday's key map:
23,300 = first defence/acceptance zone
23,350 = equilibrium
23,450–23,500 = expansion test
24,000 = major overhead zone
Do not treat a green Nifty alone as confirmation. Require Bank Nifty > VWAP, improving breadth and fresh long OI. A heavyweight-led index rise with weak equal-weight/sector participation remains Heavyweight Distortion.
TODAY'S CATALYST BOARD
1. SAUDI / OIL — Highest impact: renewed Houthi attacks can reverse last week's crude relief. Watch Monday Brent first.
2. INR — 96/$ remains the macro stress line. Brent up + INR through 96 would tighten India's risk regime quickly.
3. BANKS — Bank Nifty participation is required before upgrading the recovery to institutional accumulation.
4. NSE IPO — strong primary-market demand can temporarily drain secondary-market liquidity; account for this when reading breadth.
5. TATA GROUP — recent group-specific volatility should be separated from broad-market contagion using sector breadth, VWAP and OI.
TRADEABLE EVIDENCE
Higher-confidence long-breakout environment: Nifty >23,500 + Bank Nifty >VWAP + breadth >65–70% + USDINR <96 + Brent controlled + Put support migrating upward + FII futures shorts contracting.
At stock level:
Breakout + VWAP hold + volume expansion + I-Flow positive +
AATS/Trend/True Trend improving + fresh long OI + sector relative
strength.
WHAT CHANGED
Friday: Oil ↓ + INR stabilisation + broader market repair.
Weekend: Saudi geopolitical risk ↑.
Monday therefore becomes a clean shock-absorption test: can Indian microstructure hold Friday's repair despite renewed external risk?
AA RESEARCH
Geopolitical Shock Absorption Score: overnight Brent/yields/USD shock versus first-30-minute Nifty, breadth and VWAP response.
Breakout Environment Score: use index regime, breadth, banks, FII derivatives, INR/oil and sector participation to govern capital.
OI Migration Velocity: track weighted Put/Call wall movement after the open rather than static PCR.
Heavyweight Distortion Index: top-5 index contribution versus equal-weight performance and breadth.
ONE THING TO WATCH
“BRENT × ₹96 USDINR × 23,300 NIFTY”
If Brent rises, but INR remains below 96, and Nifty defends 23,300, reclaims VWAP and gets Bank Nifty/breadth confirmation, that is strong evidence of shock absorption.
If Brent rises, but USDINR is above 96, and Nifty is below 23,300, fresh short OI + breadth deterioration occur together, Friday's repair has failed, and the regime moves back toward RISK-OFF.
