OPENING BIAS: Flat / cautiously constructive. Do not promote the bounce to accumulation without Bank Nifty and FII confirmation.

EXECUTIVE SIGNAL

Thursday delivered a second positive Nifty close at 23,270.60 (+0.23%), with 12/16 sectors higher and mid/small caps outperforming, but Bank Nifty fell to 56,055.75 (-0.42%). Overnight conditions improved: Brent is around $104, the U.S. 10Y has retreated below 5% (~4.93%), and U.S. equities rebounded. The missing piece remains foreign positioning: FIIs sold ₹3,208.76 Cr cash and increased index-futures net shorts to 290,041 contracts.

TODAY’S CATALYST BOARD

• GLOBAL RELIEF: Falling oil and U.S. yields reduce India’s inflation/rates pressure. This is the strongest macro improvement versus yesterday.
• BANKS — CONFIRMATION SECTOR: Bank Nifty rejected ~56,600 and closed near 56,000. A Nifty rally without Bank Nifty > VWAP + broad bank participation remains incomplete.
• DEFENCE/INDUSTRIALS: BEL disclosed ₹648 Cr of new orders since Aug 26; HAL has aircraft/helicopter deliveries in focus. Demand fresh volume/OI confirmation rather than chasing headlines.
• BHARAT FORGE: QIP launched with ₹1,947.70 floor price; watch institutional price discovery and supply around the issue.
• WIPRO: STO360 launch with Aramco/SAP adds a stock-specific AI/industrial catalyst. IT remains a hostile-tape relative-strength candidate.
• GPT INFRAPROJECTS: ₹483.72 Cr RVNL bridge order — breakout candidate only if price holds VWAP with participation and fresh long OI.

FLOWS + POSITIONING

FII cash: -₹3,208.76 Cr | DII: +₹3,617.75 Cr | Net absorption: +₹408.99 Cr. FIIs have sold for seven consecutive sessions. FII index-futures OI moved from -288,103 to -290,041 net short contracts. Translation: domestic money is absorbing cash selling, but foreign derivatives remain directionally bearish.

MICROSTRUCTURE

Nifty spot 23,270.60 | PCR ~1.00 | Max Pain ~23,300. Key map: 23,200 support → 23,300 acceptance pivot → 23,450/23,500 expansion test. Bank Nifty: 56,000 immediate support; 56,500–56,750 resistance after Thursday’s upper rejection.

TRADEABLE EVIDENCE

Bullish upgrade requires: Nifty >23,300 + Bank Nifty > VWAP + breadth >65–70% + fresh long OI + USDINR <96 + no fresh expansion in FII futures shorts.
Weak rally: Nifty ↑ but Bank Nifty/breadth lag and OI ↓ = short covering / heavyweight distortion.
Bearish reset: Nifty loses 23,200/23,000 while Bank Nifty <56,000, breadth deteriorates and FII shorts expand.

MACRO TRANSMISSION

USDINR closed ~95.93 after briefly crossing 96. RBI intervention appears to be defending the threshold. Brent’s retreat toward $104 and U.S. 10Y below 5% reduce external pressure, but the Fed remains hawkish and the dollar is still firm. ₹96 remains the key FX stress line.

WHAT CHANGED

Improved: Brent ↓, US10Y <5%, Wall Street rebound, Nifty second positive close, broader sectors improved.
Not improved: FII cash selling accelerated, FII futures shorts expanded, Bank Nifty still refuses to confirm.

AA RESEARCH PRIORITIES

  1. Breakout Environment Score: Index + breadth + bank confirmation + FII futures + INR/oil + sector participation.

  2. FII Short-Covering Trigger: detect meaningful contraction from ~290k net shorts alongside 23,500 acceptance.

  3. Heavyweight Distortion Index: top constituent contribution versus equal-weight breadth and futures OI.

  4. OI Migration Velocity: prioritise live movement of Put/Call walls over static PCR.

ONE THING TO WATCH

23,300 NIFTY × BANK NIFTY VWAP × ₹96 USDINR.
If Nifty accepts >23,300, Bank Nifty finally confirms above VWAP, breadth expands and INR stays <96 while FII shorts stop expanding, AA can upgrade toward ACCUMULATION. Without that combination, this remains domestically supported stabilisation—not yet a green light to aggressively increase breakout capital.
